From the reviews
“I can’t say enough good things about Action Karate! The instructors are exceptional — always supportive, patient, and truly dedicated to helping each student grow both in skill and confidence. Every class feels like a journey, not just in martial arts, but in self-discipline, respect, and community.
My son started at Action Karate Telford when he was 7 and worked his way all the way to through the jr program earning his jr black belt. That was quite the accomplishment for him, and he gained more confidence then he previously had.
Action Karate Telford is wonderful! The instructors (both adult and Jr.) are phenomenal. My son is pretty shy and it’s been great to see him slowly come out of his shell in such a nurturing and enthusiastic environment. If you have an opportunity to check them out, I highly recommend doing so.
It took me a while to write this review because I wanted to do AKT the justice it deserves. My oldest son has been attending for a few years now and our experience has been nothing short of phenomenal. The difference I see in our son in terms of confidence, grit, and maturity are truly amazing.
Your first Karate class at Action Karate Telford
Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
