From the reviews
Falbos family karate is one of the best things I've done for my boys. The Falbos and their staff are amazing people, mentors, teachers, and instructors. Both of my boys have taken karate and attended their after school care/summer programs there. We are so thankful for everything they do for our community.
Falbo’s has helped both of my boys they started out there bc their friends went there but they love everything about it and everything that they do there! We have an older son that has gone through things this past year that no kid should have to and they have helped him through it without asking questions but gave…
Falbo's is so much more than a karate school! Jimmy Falbo and all the instructors teach their students discipline, respect, the importance of serving others, good sportsmanship, self-defense, how to handle bullies - in addition to karate!
Very friendly staff. Although I've only seen him work with children to this point, the instructor seems to be competent. I like the lessons he's taught in addition to the physical activities during the children's class.
Your first Karate class at Falbo's Family Karate
Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
