From the reviews

I absolutely love coming to class here with my kids, the instructors are A+ and really take the time to make sure your doing the right thing. As an adult it's really given me a goal set to one day also become an instructor here, and influence kids and adults they way all the instructors and senior students have…

My daughter has been taking karate lessons from RLMA for over two years and we both love it. She's learning an incredible amount of martial arts, self defense, self control, and even unexpected things like leadership, public speaking and respect for others.

Our son is here at 6 years old and Ron and his team have been fantastic with him. They are very patient and wonderful teachers. Our son is learning so much so quickly. We are very happy. It's especially impressive how many instructors Ron has available to assist him each week with the students.

So we tried another martial arts place before and I didn’t care for the “participation belt promotion” or the calendar that tells you the advance belt days (which literally everyone gets next belt advance) I didn’t agree with that or that my son thought he could look at a schedule and know when he would get next color…

Your first Karate class at Ron Little Martial Arts

Nervous about walking into a Karate dojo for the first time? Almost everyone is, and a good sensei expects beginners to come through the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: a typical first class is a warm-up, then drilling basic stances, blocks, punches, and kicks — not hard sparring. Step to the side whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: athletic wear you can move in (or a gi if you have one); you'll train barefoot. What to bring: water, and a mouthguard if you have one — many dojos lend a loaner gi for a first class, so it's worth asking when you call. As you keep training you'll add your own gi and the belt your dojo awards you. Kumite (sparring) eases in gradually, once your fundamentals are solid. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign a waiver and meet the sensei. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.

Karate is a contact sport. Ease in, train within your limits, listen to your instructors, and if you have any injuries or health concerns, mention them before class and check with a doctor if you're unsure.
